Glass, copper wire, patina, 2023 Body autonomy is something every person deserves. The constraints governments have on bodies takes a toll on people’s mental health and redacts their ability to make decisions for themselves, often forcing people to opt for long term birth control that can harm the bodies we are trying to protect. This piece was made by blowing glass into hand woven copper wire cages, then exposing those forms to a patina process. The growth of patina on the copper represents the growing rage felt by those who’s bodies are being governed. This piece was displayed in a collaborative show title "1973" with Kristi Totoritis.
